Kampot:
Peaceful life on a river
25.02.2017 - Jordan
Kampot, was the town that made us dream after having moderately enjoyed Siem Reap (I'm not talking about Angkor, which is anything else than amazing!). But we couldn't leave without one last shitty move from Cambodians:
'Sorry, the pickup bus came earlier, now you have to take Tuk-tuks'.
AaaaaaaaAAAaaAAHaHAh. Stress, tuktuks, quick, quick, very quick, fuck fuck fuuuuuck, faster! Ah. okay. The bus stop was at 500 meters from the hostel. Thanks guys for this expensive trip.
By the way, this bus doesn't match the one we booked. Alex is irritated and ready to make a curry out of Khmers! We calm him down, slowly, and everything is back in order. Let's ride to the south of Cambodia!
December 31 is coming, so we must hurry to arrive at our final rental for New Year's Eve. That's how we woke up in the morning, in Kampot, the heads up our asses, with smiles and the most flowering breathes.
The city seems tiny compared to the previous ones but tourists are still very present. Yet the atmosphere felt is none other than tranquility. At first sight, we could say that Kampot has no charm, but it would be mistaken to think so! In fact, the area has plenty of interesting places, among other things because we are close to a river and to Kep (which is in front of the sea). But in the first place, tourists like to visit the plantations of the famous Kampot pepper. An internationally known ingredient loved by the best cooks and chefs.
By mutual agreement, we decide to escape the downtown to go towards the river shore: a place even more calm and above all, with guest-houses which lay on stilts. Each hostel owns only a few wooden huts where we can sleep, as well as bars over the water. Obviously with hammocks, otherwise how could we enjoy?!
The place we choose is like heaven despite a strong wind. We make ourselves comfortable. Let's take our eases and fall on our phones and computers in order to update our blogs! Hum, by the way, Alex, Kevin, Clément, where is your Macbook?
FUUUUUUUUUCK, IN THE BUUUUUUS. Shit shit shiiiit, tuktuks, fast, fast, fuck, faster!
And that's how the guys come back like flowers: a good soul took the laptop from the bus and dropped it off at the bus office. Lucky Commequierois (Name that we give to the people living in Commequiers, our home-town)!
In fact we just hang out and lie down all the afternoon: it's time to plan the coming days!
