In a bus. Easy.

Paï is northern town of Thailand. Not that far away from Chiang Mai, as the crow flies, however, it takes a few hours to reach by car: thanks to the 720 abrupt mountain turns! Sixtine will have a good souvenir about them: her stomach allowed itself to 'baptize' the summit!

We arrive late in the evening in this area loved from both backpackers and thai tourists. It must be said that the region is absolutely amazing. You could almost imagine yourself in an 'equatorial Jura' (French mountains). The food is also as developed as that the hills are beautiful.

Quite fast, we grab a Pad-thai before we head over to the place we stay: a calm hotel with many wooden bungalows. Here is one of Pai strengths: infrastructure quality. For a reasonable price, you can get lovely bungalows or beautiful rooms with a view on the mountains. Great: we have to stay four nights!

The best choice you can do is to visit the surrounding area by scooter: we rent one to reach the other side of the mountain. Riding our amazing huge motorbike, we easily drive over the mountain passes. It's true happiness to feel the wind on your face while having green landscapes, plantations and forests until the horizon!

We didn't pay attention to it first, but there are many army roadblocks: we are only a few kilometers from the Burmese border.

We stop at the Tham Lot Cave, which is a cave with many stalactites and stalagmites, as well as an underground river. It's charming to see the gas lamps glowing on the water reflection while we navigate on rawboats made out of huge bamboo trunks. Some stalagmites take form of animals or Buddhas, that our guide doesn't miss to report. Sometimes you need a lot of creativity to imagine them: we feel that they try to invent stories to make the place 'historical' and bring tourists! However, one of the oldest rowboat of the country was found in this cave.

After a great meal in a wooden restaurant above the river, we drive ahead natural hot water sources! Obviously, we're not alone and some children have fun in water: they spray everyone (but people fight back!). What a pleasant place, we feel well, as in a hot bath in the shadow!

In the evening, we meet Thom, cook chef and cooking teacher, but also friend with the 'Triplets'. But that's another coming adventure!

Love!
